Presence says more than words.

We carefully observe the "presence" of architecture. We listen to their voices, sympathize with them, talk with them, and speak to them by creating our own "presence". And then we observe again.

The history, culture, nature, and ever-changing society of a region are contained in the " presence", as well as traces of the past and signs of the future. Therefore, I believe that listening to the "presence" and expressing one's thoughts through "presence" is to touch the essence of architecture, and to face architecture with integrity.

We listen to the message from the "presence" and let the "presence" tell us the message again. Through this cycle, we aim to create a space that is comfortable for a wide variety of people, and an architecture that allows people to feel nature rather than being in nature.

Laboratory

Laboratory

The theme of Tetsuo Kobori Laboratory, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Design, Hosei University, is to connect field surveying and design. There are a wide variety of cities and architectures in the world, especially those that are integrated with the local climate, history, and surrounding natural environment, and have architectural roots. In our laboratory, we investigate the essence of architecture by surveying the cities where civilizations originated and architecture that has universality, and learn to connect the knowledge we gain from these surveys to design.
